The Sailing Pathway at Lakewood Yacht Club
Lakewood Yacht Club’s Opti Camp 2026 is more than a fun summer experience—it’s the first step in an exciting journey into the world of sailing and racing. For sailors who fall in love with the sport, this camp provides a strong foundation for future development, advanced training, and competitive opportunities.
Our sailing pathway is designed to make the sport more accessible, engaging, and inclusive for young sailors. Beginning with Opti Camp 2026, participants develop core sailing skills, confidence on the water, and a love for the sport that can lead to advanced programs, regional regattas, and high-performance racing teams.
Through expert coaching, structured development, and a supportive community, Lakewood Yacht Club ensures that every sailor—whether recreational or competitive—has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
At Lakewood, we’re not just teaching sailing—we’re building the future of the sport.
This year, we will not be running a separate Seahorse Camp. Instead, the Optimist Camp will be offered to sailors ages 7–13, with a wider age range than in previous years. The program is designed to accommodate varying experience levels, with age-appropriate coaching and on-the-water activities tailored to each group.
